Winter
Enjoy the winter wonderland
Fancy some snow? Fancy clear, icy air? Fancy fascinating white worlds? Then discover winter in the Sauerland when it changes its color from green to white. In the middle of Germany, within easy reach and pure snow fun for everyone!
Alpine skiing
Rapid descents, leisurely family slopes, challenging parks for snowboarders. The Sauerland winter sports arena is the "greatest snow fun north of the Alps". From mid-December to mid-March, the lift operators' snowmaking systems and, of course, Mother Hulda ensure consistently good skiing conditions. Large chairlift facilities, ski schools, ski hire and hearty refreshment stops provide the winter sports fun you are looking for.
Nordic skiing
Glide silently through the snow on skis and enjoy the beautiful landscape and clear air. Without the hustle and bustle and with plenty of nature, the numerous trails in the Sauerland invite you to go cross-country skiing. The groomed trails lead the way along the ridges of the Rothaargebirge. Follow them and enjoy the healthy, steady movement in the fresh snow.
Floodlit cross-country skiing is also possible at the cross-country skiing center in Westfeld. It is also the starting point for numerous cross-country ski trails and offers guided snowshoe hikes.
Winter hiking
A cozy winter vacation. Sparkling hoarfrost on the branches, the crunch of snow under your shoes, a peaceful silence that only the snow-covered landscape can create. The Sauerland changes significantly as soon as the first snow has fallen or Father Frost makes his presence felt. Completely new views and impressions become possible.
Many local hiking trails are cleared for hikers in winter. You can also hike along the groomed cross-country ski trails - without destroying the ski tracks, of course. Your hosts will know recommended trails or you can find information on the internet at:
